Artesea's Backstory

Hello! Artesea here. This is my first time blogging. So, forgive me if I've done anything wrongly. Without further ado, I'll start telling Artesea's backstory.
In December 2016, my best friend introduced me to air dry clay. It was the super light type for kids. After familiarising myself with the clay, I made clay alphabet keychains. Since then, my love for clay grew tremendously.
The next year, I started making clay animal sculptures to sell in school. (It was against the rules, but I did it anyway and got caught. Haha. Silly me.) I took a break from clay sculpting for the majority of that year because I had to sit for UPSR. (UPSR is an exam to grade you before you enter secondary school in Malaysia.)
After settling in secondary school, I picked up clay sculpting again as my hobby. I began making tiny human figurines. As time passed, I got more confident and made bigger clay human figurines. They weren't a sight to behold, but I enjoyed the process of making them.
The clay figurines below are some of the latest. Looking at them now, I've noticed that I've improved; however, I am not satisfied with just this. I promise to keep on practising and improving at my own pace.
Now you know how I started clay sculpting. But, how did I began drawing and painting?
When I turned 14, I was going through a pretty rough time. So, for two years, I drew out my emotions. I taught myself how to draw humans by referring to some drawing tips on Pinterest and Google. That was when I started to fall in love with drawing.
I love clay sculpting and drawing, but I never loved sketching and painting. Or, at least, I didn't try to. But, when I turned 16, I decided to give them a try. With my family's encouragement and my brother's teaching, I painted and sketched. I realised that I needed a tutor. So, I signed up for an art tuition. When I was taught new techniques, I saw what I could achieve and was interested. I started practising and grew to love painting and sketching too.

In the year 2020, I created an Instagram account for my clay artworks. (At that time, I wasn't interested in painting or sketching.) I named my clay account 'ClayWorks' with the username 'clayworks2016' on Instagram.

After a year or so, I was lying in bed one night thinking about ClayWorks. I wanted to have many different types of artworks on my account, not just clay. I was and still am finding which medium of art I love most. As a result, I created Artesea which consists of everything art.
As I don't have a fixed theme or art medium, Artesea might go through different stages and evolve as I grow up.
With all said, thank you for reading my first blog post. For those who were with me from the beginning, thank you. Hope you enjoyed!
